Student Staff

Eleanor Macagba, Student Pantry Coordinator
Eleanor (they/them) is a junior at New York University with a concentration in environmental science and decolonial studies. They grew up in the city, and currently live in BedStuy, Brooklyn with their family and two cats. Eleanor has been volunteering at the pantry since their freshman year of college, and joined the student staff last year. Now, their main role is to manage and support the student staff and day-to-day pantry operations. In their free time, they like to read, crochet, and explore different parks in the city.

Nzingha Primus. Student Staffer
Nzingha Primus (she/her) is a writer and filmmaker based in NYC majoring in Radio/TV production at Mercy College. From high school to present day, she has always worked with community based organizations to find ways to combine her skills as an artist and activist while developing her craft such as at The Encampment for Citizenship and The Dreamyard Art Center. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, photo walks, and going to live performances.

Mariah McSweeney, Student Staffer
Mariah is a senior in the Culture and Media program at The New School's Lang College with a concentration in Screen Studies. As an avid patron of the college food pantry, Mariah is excited to be a part of the team and support other college students in need. Outside of classes, Mariah enjoys exploring theater and arts exhibits in the city and hanging out at Elizabeth Street Garden and our other beautiful local parks.

Bethany Day, Seminary Intern
Bethany is serving this year as a seminary intern with the College Student Pantry and PRiSM, the progressive Christian campus ministry that sponsors the CSP. Her work with the pantry focuses on leadership development and advocacy. Bethany is a student at Union Theological Seminary with a concentration in interreligious engagement. In her free time, she likes playing cooperative board games, hiking, and cooking Mediterranean-inspired food to share with friends. She holds a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Bachelor of Arts from Westmont College. After completing her degree at Union Theological Seminary, she hopes to continue working with college students as a college chaplain.

Alex Lawrence, Executive Director of Trinity's SAFH
Alex is the Executive Director of Trinity's SAFH, the amazing non-profit feeding organization that hosts and partners with the College Student Pantry. Alex manages all administrative and programmatic aspects of Trinity's Services, including fundraising and volunteer recruitment. Alex was featured on a special episode of Food Network's Chopped, featuring soup kitchen employees, and won! In his spare time he enjoys cooking, making cocktails, and advocating for social justice causes.In his spare time he enjoys cooking, making cocktails, and advocating for social justice causes. Originally from California, he's lived in NYC for over 15 years with his husband Cody.

Becca Seely, Pantry Administrative Coordinator & Pastor of PRiSM Student Ministry
Becca (she/her) is the pastor of PRiSM, the progressive Christian campus ministry that partners with Trinity SAFH to run the College Student Pantry. Her primary role at the CSP is to support the student staff however she can and to make sure the infrastructure of the pantry is running smoothly. In addition to her work with PRiSM and the CSP, Becca also serves as a Spiritual Life Advisor to students at NYU and a Religious Life Advisor at Columbia University. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, hanging out with her wife, Abby and two young kids, and planning elaborate theme parties. She is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Joey, Pantry Mascot
Joey (he/him) is the resident church pup at our host site Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Parish, where he lives with his dads, Pastor Will and Steven. He loves taking naps, eating treats, hanging out in the Tompkins Square Dog Park, long walks and big stretches, and is a regular fixture at rallies, marches, and other community events. Above all, Joey wants to bring love and joy to the hearts of everyone he meets!
